| Tom Collins really is
a show in himself. Songs covering a wide range of decades
such as fifties, sixties, seventies, rock’n’roll,
country, Scottish, Irish, sing along, you name it he
can sing it. Tom’s personal tributes to characters
Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, Bay City Rollers,
Showaddywaddy, and his own version Al Jolson have given
him a huge following and fan base guaranteed to please
every one of all ages.
In 2004 Tom organised and performed two sell out shows
to raise money for the children’s hospice association
in Scotland (CHAS), raising £2,500. In December
of that year he was recognised for his charity work
by colleagues at Scottish Widows and nominated for a
Lloyds TSB Community Award who donated a further £1,000
to CHAS.
Having got the entertainment bug Tom left Scottish
Widows in 2005 and decided to try entertaining as a
full time career. Moving to Blackpool he didn’t
take long to get into the top hotels and clubs and is
currently in the middle of his third summer season.
In the summer of 2005 Tom continued helping out various
charities including Donna’s Dream House in Blackpool
where he appeared at Blackpool’s no.1 nightspot
Funny Girls along with Billy Pearce, Leigh Myers, Ryan
Night, Jody Moore, Catherine Kerr & of course the
cast of Funny Girls.
Having taking a year out of fund raising to get his
career up and running, Tom returned to Edinburgh in
August 2006 to hold another charity evening for CHAS.
With a sell out audience of 280 this was the biggest
achievement of his career so far. A wonderful sum of
over £1500 was raised for the charity.
In February 2007 Tom was asked to appear in his home
town of Edinburgh at the Fabulous Edinburgh Festival
Theatre to represent Scotland in the Chinese New Year
Show. This wonderful show gave tom the title of “The
Pride of Scotland” which has stuck at his shows.
Returning to Blackpool again to begin work on his third
summer season Tom was approached by HRH Entertainments
and asked to appear at the Opera House in Blackpool
to help raise money for the Les Dawson Memorial Statue
and pay tribute to the great man. Not thinking twice
Tom accepted and performed an amazing set with a four
piece life band. Working along such legends as Johnnie
Casson, Jimmy Cricket, Carl Schofield, Bonnie Tyler,
PJ Proby and David Copperfield the 3000 strong audience
agreed Tom was firmly on his way to accomplishing his
dream.
Look out for Tom coming to a town near you
